Atlantic City Criminal Bail Lawyer Helping Clients in Atlantic & Cape May County
Bail Hearings Attorney
If your family member, friend or other associate has been arrested and is being held in custody, you may be able to get that person freed until trial by posting bail. If you cannot afford the bail amount that has been set, an attorney may be able to help you get it reduced.
I am John W. Tumelty, an experienced Atlantic City criminal bail lawyer representing clients at bail hearings in Atlantic County, Cape May County and other counties throughout South Jersey. Don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss what I can do to help you meet bail.
Acting Quickly to Try to Get Bail Reduced
The purpose of bail is to make sure people who have been accused of crimes show up for their trial and pretrial hearings. Defendants and their associates can post surety bonds, also known as bail bonds, to satisfy their bail.
If you cannot afford to make bail for someone, hiring a lawyer to try to get the bail amount reduced is often less costly than paying a fee to a bail bondsman.
When I am hired to represent someone who is still in jail, I will immediately file a motion to reduce bail and get a bail hearing scheduled as soon as possible. I will also attempt to negotiate with the county prosecutor’s office to see if they will consent to lower bail.
I have been practicing criminal law in South Jersey for 30 years and am a New Jersey Supreme Court certified criminal trial attorney. If you need help making bail for someone who has been arrested, contact me today for a free consultation at 609-390-4600.
